Spanish

The other night I decided to read Emily's number book in Spanish. I was soon to discover that Emily can independently count to five in Spanish and knows the rest of the numbers to ten with a bit of help. I told Eric late that night and he had no idea she could do that. It is amazing what videos will teach.

Froggies too

As Emily was praying tonight, she was thanking God for everyone in Michigan. It goes like this, "Oma and Opa and Ferb and Scotter and what's the other cat, and Aunt Dani and Andrew and Uncle Tim and Amber and Omama and Opapa and Misha and froggies." (For those of you who don't know, Omama has a huge collection of frogs.)

Life must be good

While singing Row, Row, Row your boat the other day, Emily got a bit carried away. Her boat went 'merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily' down the stream.

Okay Daddy.

I was trying to put Emily down for a nap and she really wasn't excited about it. We are trying to start having Emily sit on the potty before and after nap. Today she was screaming and didn't want to. Eric was upstairs and offered to help. He took Emily into his arms and said gently, "Emily, you need to sit on the potty before nap." Emily tearfully replied, "Okay Daddy." I praise the Lord that Emily has such a great Daddy!

Daddy, Where are you?

Emily was supposed to be napping; instead she was calling 'daddy' over and over again. After about 5 minutes, I heard in the monitor an emphatic "Where are you?"

New words

It is great to hear Emily learning new words. I know when she has mastered a new word when she uses it correctly. Yesterday we were driving along and we smelled a skunk. In the back seat, I heard Emily say, "Stinky."
Today, she was down for a nap and I heard her talking. She was saying, "Blanket stinky. Mommy. Blanket stinky." I haven't checked the blanket yet, but I will.

Fun together

Emily is so much fun lately. Today we were on our way to the park when we stopped at some friend's house to play. Emily played so well with the other children and she also played well by herself. Because I didn't take the stroller, Emily walked/ran the whole time. We then went for another walk to the park this time with Michelle, a neighbor. I brought the stroller, but she only rode it in for a small part of the trip. She loves to walk/run.

This afternoon, Larisa and I were talking and I think Emily felt ignored. She stood by the stairs rocking her baby and singing "baby" very loudly until we noticed that she was there.

It has been difficult to get Emily to bed at a reasonable time lately. Tonight as I was reading books to her, Donny, Larisa, Drew and Eric all pulled into the driveway. Needless to say, we were done reading books and went to see all the fun that was going on downstairs.

A New Way to Swing

Emily has recently been enjoying herself by swinging on her belly at the park. It does put her in some funny positions though...

The coat

Today Emily fell asleep in the car after church. I took her upstairs, took off her coat and shoes and laid her in her bed. She didn't even open her eyes. Two hours later I walked into her room to find a little girl standing in bed with her coat ON.

"What?" I said to myself. "Did I leave her coat on? No. I know I took it off."

I must have left the coat on the chair. Emily pulled it through the bars and put in on.

Just like Daddy

This morning I was talking to Jessica while Emily was playing in the kitchen. I leaned against the stove crossed my legs and was drinking my coffee when I see Emily come over and do her best to imitate me. She leaned agains the stove and crossed her arms. I think if she had crossed her legs, she'd probably have fallen over.

Lord, let me be a good example for her!

Praying

Tonight I told Emily it was time to pray before bed. She reached for her doll and folded her dolls hands and looked at me to pray.

She also almost always asks me to pray more after I say Amen. I wonder if that is what God is thinking when we say Amen.
